I Know What I Want to Be When I Grow Up

I would like to thank Jon Acuff for helping me truly get focused on what it is I want to be when I grow up and what it's going to take to get me there. For those of you who have seen me through my journey to get healthy, you know that this has become a huge passion of mine. Being a single mom and responsible adult, I have had to think really hard about my goals, my experiences, my passions, & how can I work on this in a responsible way. I love teaching & I have really loved many aspects in the pharmaceutical sales industry, but there are two major realities here. Teaching pays very little and for single moms, especially those that got out so long ago, certification has lapsed, this makes the return to the classroom very difficult to consider. Pharmaceutical sales provides me the opportunity to use many strengths that I enjoy, but it isn't a field that will likely provide job security through retirement. I have really struggled with my strong passion for nutrition and the reality of how I could pursue this option without taking on debt for going back to school. It really does make sense however to focus my job search on options that will grow my foundation to pursue this hobby & passion on the side. I have been very excited to have the wonderful resources of fabulous recipes from Maria Emmerich, the truth about what we're eating from Food Babe & the ability to try different options. I have been open about the struggle & will necessary to get & stay healthy. And just like everybody else, I AM NOT PERFECT. My rule of thumb is really 80% of the time. It is so much easier to stick to good choices though when you have them available & you can have them available easier when you find what works for you. I have found several recipes that keep me on track, mostly from Maria, but some from Pinterest as well. I am honored that I have had people come to me one off and ask my opinion about nutrition & how I attained & maintain my goals. To have the opportunity to share what I have learned and am still learning energizes me & I want to pursue this hobby and continue to learn more. The reality check is my job must also pay the bills and my passion is to find one that helps me to continue to grow and challenge my mind. Knowing how healthcare is changing and the different demands on healthcare providers, my job search is focused on areas that compliment these challenges. I love to problem solve, teach, and add value. I'm pursuing a job in that specific area and I am going to land one sooner than later. The truth is, this blog is part of me getting myself pumped for tomorrow's interview. Wish me luck as I pursue my short & long term goals. Next blog out will be on setting those goals in a variety of areas. I'm on a roll, feeling blessed, & feeling God's support. Have faith people. Even in tough times, there are lessons for us all to learn.
